A central hobby of mine is smart home technology. It combines data visualization & automation capabilities, both areas I’m deeply interested in.
I first explored this space with x10, with a starter kit that let me turn outlets on and off remotely, using communication protocols over power lines.
Since then, multiple ecosystems led me to where this market flourishes, Home Assistant. Google, Alexa, Siri, and other solutions felt partially supported within walled gardens, and cloud based resulted in laggy and indeterminate performance.

I built and maintain many instances of Home Assistant, and have proliferated it further. This page serves as a space to show off these spaces.
